Selin A. asked a question to Remi M.
Would software engineering experience in the telecommunications industry be beneficial? Do domain knowledge and education on telecommunications play a role in a software engineer’s daily task?
Hello Selin!
In my opinion, it is good to know some basics of telecommunications to understand Nokia's business.
However, it depends on the role. For example, a software engineer who works closely with hardware probably should know more about signal processing, sampling, interference, etc.; but for a software engineer who develops a business application, it is not that crucial.
To sum up, I think that it's good to know some basics because besides being useful it's also interesting - advanced knowledge is role-dependent and most probably this requirement will be stated in the job offer.
All the best!
