    Hi Alan,

    To focus on SDN as a network engineer, you should master networking fundamentals like TCP/IP, VLANs, and routing protocols. Understand SDN architecture, including controllers, and the control/data plane separation. Learn programming languages such as Python and Bash for automation, and get familiar with network virtualization tools. Knowledge of cloud networking on platforms like AWS or Azure is also helpful.
