Nicole S. asked a question to Burcu D.
I’d also be open to hearing your educational background, competencies and what you would say is most important about DEI and someone interested in it. I’d also like to know a bit more about how your department works! Thanks for taking the time I sincerely appreciate it!
Hi Nicole, thank you for this question. About my educational background, I studied Sociology and also obtained an MBA degree. In my career, I have worked in various roles in HR. Started with HR Specialist role followed with HR Generalist roles, became Country HR Manager and moved to Global team where I had the privilege of working in Talent Attraction, Employment, Organizational Development, Culture Transformation and DEI functions. DEI requires cultural competency, inclusive leadership, emotional intelligence, and communication skills. Managing change, resolving conflict, advocating for equity, and analyzing data to inform DEI strategies are also very crucial. Our function is integral in shaping our company’s culture, embeds DEI principles to people processes in alignment with legal and cultural contexts, develops and implements global DEI strategies and programs aligned with business objectives.
