Hi Oliver. Which career transition at Nokia most changed how you think as a researcher or technologist and why?

Hi Jeffery, a very interesting question, thanks for making me reflect back on the impact of my career transitions!

Although I cannot deny that changing role and responsibilities do have a learning curve and a part in term of the wider perspective someone can acquire as a researcher or "tech-oriented" person, I would like to acknowledge that my career transitions (Helsinki->Taipei->Lisbon->Ulm->Espoo) brought me so much more in term of the different culture and people I worked and lived with. That is what changed me the most. By growing or rather expanding the multiple angles of your own self-aware identity, it allows to act as a researcher or a tech-oriented person in far more creative and human ways than what you might learn from a pure professional perspective.

Thank you for your response, Olivier! The idea of expanding rather than changing one's identity is very thoughtful and I can see how it resonates with how we think and act as researchers in more human ways. I hope to carry this framing throughout my journey as I continue to explore research and technology.

Thanks again for taking the time to look back at your career. Cheers.
