How do you decide which projects to include in a resume or portfolio to best demonstrate co-op job-relevant skills?

Anonymous asked a question to Rita L.

Are there types of projects that are less helpful to include for a data co-op role?

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question!
Choose projects that best match the co-op job’s required skills and show real impact. Focus on 3–5 strong examples that demonstrate:

    1. Relevance – Align with the tools and skills in the job description.
    2. Impact – Highlight measurable results or problem-solving.
    3. Technical variety – Show both breadth (different tools) and depth (mastery of key skills).
    4. Clarity – Use brief STAR-style descriptions (Situation, Task, Action, Result).
    5. Recency – Keep projects current and meaningful.

Please have in mind also the key topics that are marking today's society, like AI and automation, that demonstrate the value you can bring to the company you are applying for!

Good luck in case you are in a job hunt, wish you the best!
