Nokia approaches the defense sector with the same principles that have guided us for over 150 years: transparency, compliance, and integrity. We operate with a clear understanding of our responsibilities and make deliberate choices about who we work with and where.
Our role in defense isn’t to build weapons. We develop secure communication solutions that help ensure the right people get the right information at the right time. We focus on enabling trusted defense forces to operate effectively, efficiently, and responsibly.
We only conduct business with NATO and allied nations. There is a strict list of countries and entities we will not sell to, speak with or support in any way. Our partners are vetted to ensure their values and conduct are aligned with ours. If an event takes place in a country that falls outside our approved target list, we do not participate. That applies to our presence, our people and our products. Because how we show up in defense is just as important as what we deliver.

Hi Kathy
Thanks for reaching out to us.
Nokia ensures it remains an ethical company in defense-related business by complying with international regulations and its own Code of Conduct. Its operations are guided by respect for human rights, transparency, and responsible use of technology. Rigorous risk assessments and continuous oversight ensure that solutions are used in accordance with the law and ethical standards, balancing support for defense customers with responsible practices.
It’s important to note that we do not produce weapons; our focus is on developing technologies that enhance communication, data management, and situational awareness to support defense operations safely and responsibly.
I hope this was helpful, and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any more questions.
