Reswanth P. asked a question to András L.
Hi,
I work on maintenance in the 3G/4G domain. It is difficult to describe concrete examples without going into detail that is both highly specialized and confidential to our company.
Many of the hardest issues appear when the network or its configuration changes and behaviour that previously worked reliably starts to fail.
In a recent difficult case, the switching centre had an Intelligent Network connection; along that path the IN layer altered call-related data, but one network element did not consume that information, which led to teardown of certain specialised calls. Software had also changed shortly beforehand, which helped narrow the investigation to the area of the code where behaviour diverged. Pinpointing defects like this requires substantial data from the customer, analysis of call setup, and careful reading of the relevant documentation.
Best regards,
LA
