In this role, you have to have the confidence to interact with the customers. In many cases, the transformation projects have executive attention so it can get quite scary standing up in front of customer's top managers and recommending changes.
It also requires that you always think first what is good for the customer, and then you think about the internal stuff only later.
More and more creative problem solving is needed as technical problems are getting complex.
Of course as always when working with customers, you have to have a pretty thick skin for criticism. Diplomacy skills are definitely needed
