Hmm.. I suppose my expectation was to slowly and steadily start learning the system architecture and get familiar with the code base. I did not expect to actually do anything during the first month other than to go through some presentations and other material, but luckily I was also given really small simple tasks so that I can "learn by doing", and I was assigned a buddy from my team to help me out.
