Hello,
In early career for HW R&D department, I would say the required technical skills would be understanding of hardware fundamentals - things like circuit design, signal processing, and how different hardware components interact. You'll be working with real hardware, so knowing how it works at the component level is crucial.
Then, depending on the career path where you'll go - for example, to develop code for the hardware or focus on testing/verification - I would say both require programming skills, especially for hardware testing and automation. Languages like Python, C/C++ are commonly used for hardware testing scripts and embedded programming.
What specific area of HW R&D interests you most?
Best regards,
Casey
