Adarsh K. asked a question to Casey C.
Hi Ardarsh K., it's great to connect with you on the Insider platform!
With 6 years of experience in IP and a Bachelor’s degree in ECE, there is no single “one-size-fits-all” skill set to enter an in-house IP team at Nokia, because Nokia operates across multiple business units and engineering domains.
Therefore, the right preparation depends heavily on your interests and the specific job description. You should first identify the role and domain you are targeting and then upskill accordingly. For instance, if applying for a datapath engineer role, it would be critical to develop a strong understanding of the life of a data packet as it traverses the datapath pipeline—how it moves through different hardware and software blocks, how forwarding decisions are made, and how routing and bridging concepts are applied at various stages. Aligning one’s skills with the expectations of the specific team and role is far more important than pursuing a generic degree or toolset.
All the best for your further career, and please don't hesitate to ask us more questions! :)
