Mohamed B. asked a question to Rana M.
For reference, I've applied to a few junior positions since I recently graduated with a degree in computer science. For all these positions, I have almost all of the skills required. So I'd just like to know what I can do to position myself to secure an interview.
Hi Mohamed, Thank you for reaching out to me on Insider!
I'm excited to hear you’re eager to embark on your career journey with Nokia. Entering the workforce can be daunting, but remember that pressure often brings out the best in us. You’ve already taken a crucial step by carefully reading the job descriptions and aligning them with your skills and experience.
A well-structured and impactful CV is your first introduction to a prospective employer and the gateway to a potential interview. Keep it succinct, precise, and clear. Showcase your achievements with pride. Here’s a tip: start each bullet point with strong action verbs like “Achieved,” “Led,” or “Completed.” This will enhance your impact and showcase your strengths. Believe in yourself and your journey ahead!
Hi Rana, thank you so much for your reply! Do you have any advice on what I could do after tailoring my resume for a specific job, and ensuring that I use strong action verbs as well as quantitative metrics. I know that most companies now get a high volume of applicants for jobs, so I’m trying to explore what I can do to help an applicant that stands out to recruiters and hiring managers.
Hi Mohamed,
I truly believe that by incorporating everything you've mentioned, you've positioned yourself as a strong candidate for consideration. However, beyond all of that, the most important factor is you! Your uniqueness—your experiences, achievements, and accomplishments—sets you apart and makes you stand out as a candidate in your own right.
I’m rooting for you and wishing you all the success.
Best wishes,
Rana
