Hi Denzel, thanks so much for connecting with me on Insider and for your interesting question.

Breaking into tech can definitely be challenging, but what truly makes a difference is learning how to clearly showcase your unique value. One piece of advice I’d share is to avoid being too broad in your approach and instead focus on a primary area of interest or passion. When you narrow your focus, it becomes much easier to build direction, credibility, and momentum.

Take some time to reflect on the skills you enjoy using the most and the roles that genuinely excite you—whether that’s cloud, data analytics, software engineering, or another tech path. Once you’ve identified that focus, you can start building experience and knowledge that aligns with it. This might include personal projects, university coursework, internships, volunteer work, or even case studies. All of these count as valuable experience, especially when you clearly articulate the impact of what you’ve worked on.

I’d also recommend making sure this focus is reflected on your CV and LinkedIn profile, and intentionally growing your network around your chosen interests. Connecting with people in the space you want to move into can open doors, provide insight, and help you stay motivated.

You’re already asking the right questions—keep that momentum going. With consistency and persistence, things will start to fall into place.

I hope that helps, and I am always here if you have any further questions!
