Joy I. asked a question to Rana M.
Hi Joy,
Thank you for connecting with me on the Insider and for your question.
Although I didn’t change careers within Nokia, my journey did involve a significant transformation. I transitioned from the world of management consulting into the telecom and technology industry—a space that was completely new to me. It was a big leap, and one that could have easily felt daunting.
What made the biggest difference was the way Nokia approached my potential. Instead of focusing on the fact that I came from a different industry, they saw the strengths, curiosity, and transferable skills I brought with me.
Nokia’s culture played a huge role in this transition. The leadership here is truly supportive, and the environment encourages you to learn, explore, and stretch yourself in ways you may not have imagined. I’ve always felt valued—not just for what I had already done, but for what I could grow into.
Because of that, I’ve learned to embrace uncertainty with confidence. I say yes to new initiatives even when they’re unfamiliar, because I’ve experienced firsthand how growth happens when you’re given space to evolve. Nokia taught me that stepping into the unknown isn’t something to fear—it’s often the moment where you discover what you’re capable of.
I hope that gives you some useful insight, and I am always here if you have any further questions.
Best wishes,
Rana
